What Robyn says:
"In October 2008 I went to a wedding wearing a lovely dress that everyone complimented me on. I hated it. I hated it because it was a size 14.
I’d been a size 14 once before - after a backpacking trip where I ate and drank junk for 4 months – and I swore I’d never let myself get that big again. I know a size 14 isn’t all that big by UK standards but when you’re 5ft tall with a relatively petite frame it is and I hated how I looked on the pictures taken that night.
I had my first session with Charlotte Pye at the end of October 2008 and took with me a pair of size 10 shorts and a picture of me wearing them. I wanted to be able to wear those shorts again on holiday this year and look how I did in the picture, that was my goal.
I never used to like exercise, I used to do it because I know it is important, but I always saw it as a chore. Over the past 10 months I’ve been going to Body Solutions every Sunday morning and my hour long session is one of my favorite parts of the week! I look forward to working hard, challenging and pushing myself and feeling great for the rest of the day. I also look forward to the aches that come in the following days! Most of all though, I look forward to the motivation, inspiration and self belief I get from my PT. And it’s not just the exercise side of things – the team support and advise me with regards to my diet too. They are friendly and supportive, loads of fun and they know how to push me to get the best from my sessions.
Now I exercise at least 4 times a week and love every minute of it. Over the past few months I’ve definitely seen the results of my new lifestyle. My trainers at Body Solutions have made me realize that the picture I had in my head of how I wanted to look was unachievable (without the aid of major surgery) because you can’t change your bone structure. I know and understand my body shape, how to make the most of it, and what I need to do to look and feel the best that I can. I am now wearing a size 10 again. I’ve just been on holiday and my size 10 shorts fit me better than they ever have. I felt confident and comfortable in my bikini and I know that I couldn’t have looked any better at that particular time. I’ve never felt fitter or been happier with my shape than I am now (I just wish there were exercises I could do to lengthen my short legs!).
But it’s not just about how I look in the mirror, it’s about how I feel inside. I feel happier, healthier and more confident. I have more energy and enjoy my healthier lifestyle.
In the past I have dieted and exercised to lose weight for a particular goal/event/holiday and then stopped. Now, each time I achieve a goal, with the help of my PT, I set a new one. Now that my holiday is over for this year and I reached my goal of fitting into my shorts, my new goal is to run a 10K in March next year. Then my goal will be to stay in shape and get even fitter so I can look and feel as good as I possibly can in my wedding dress next September. Having something to aim for provides motivation and determination to get there.
I know I probably could do it alone, but I would struggle, slip up and not enjoy it as much, so I wouldn’t be without the team at Body Solutions. They really do make training hard easy. "
